Resistance Is Necessary For Our Liberation
During the times of slavery, enslaved people didn’t just engage in passive resistance against slaveholders—they planned and participated in armed revolts. Between the 17th and 19th centuries, enslaved Africans and African Americans in British North America and the United States staged hundreds of revolts.
Resistance signified continual deep-rooted discontent with the condition of bondage and, in some places, such as the United States, resulted in ever-more-stringent mechanisms for social control and repression.
In this presentation we will cover:
• Slave rebellions
• Armed Revolts
• The Hatian Revolution
And So much more.
Oppression is not natural but the desire to combat oppression is! We must continue to rebel strive for our liberation and teach future generations to do the same!
